Everybody knows the song… but do you know the story? Join us at the Aztec Shawnee Theater for a fascinating film on Home on the Range, the song with as dramatic a tale of creation as the western landscape it honors.

The film will share the back story behind the original poem, “My Western Home” and the fight over authorship and legacy as it became a song with international recognition and acclaim. El Dean Holthus of the Home on the Range Cabin in Smith County will also share stories behind the production and the work of their museum to preserve the inspirational landscape captured by Dr. Higley’s poem.

Admission to this event is FREE thanks to the generous support of the Rotary Club of Shawnee and Shawnee Town 1929 Museum. Seating is limited.
