Our Founders and Team
The Aztec Shawnee Theater is the result of a shared vision by lifelong Shawnee residents and business owners Christopher Calkins, Jeffrey Calkins, and Bruce Young. Deeply connected to the community, they recognized the importance of preserving one of Shawnee’s most iconic landmarks and restoring it as a place where people could gather, celebrate, and enjoy live entertainment.
Chris and Jeff Calkins continue a family legacy that dates back generations through Calkins Electric Supply Co., a longtime Shawnee business founded by their grandfather in 1946. Bruce Young has owned and operated a successful flooring business in Shawnee for more than 40 years, building strong relationships throughout the community.
Together, they transformed the historic theater into the award-winning venue it is today, helping spark new energy in downtown Shawnee while preserving an important piece of local history for future generations.
